Indians roll past the Eagles

 

The Chattooga Indians continued their winnings ways on Friday night with a big non region win over the Mount Zion Eagles. Chattooga would start fast with points on the first drive of the game. The Indians would keep the scoring going all night as they would defeat the visiting Eagles 45-20.

First Quarter

The Indians would get on the scoreboard on just the fourth play from scrimmage on a 66 yard touchdown run by #7 Zayden Cook . Mount Zion would take their first possession all the way inside the Indian 30 yard line. The drive would stall and Mount Zion would be forced to punt. The Indians would start their next drive on their own 4 yard line. The ten play drive would run the clock down to the end of the 1st quarter with the score Chattooga 7 Mount Zion 0.

Second Quarter

The second quarter would start with a 11 yard Touchdown run by #7  Zayden Cook . That would push the score to Indians 14 Eagles 0. The Eagles Next drive would end on downs as the Eagle pass would be knocked away from the receiver by #11 Quarry Gibson . Chattooga’s next drive would be led by a long pass play from #11 Quarry Gibson to #5 Chris Adams . Just a couple plays later the Indians #7 Zayden Cook would score on an 18 yard Touchdown run.

Mount Zion would get on the scoreboard late in the 2nd quarter with a 3 yard Touchdown pass from #12 Knox Israel to #2 Xavier Buckner . The Following PAT would be blocked by Indians #0 Kadin Fife . Chattooga would add 3 points on a 23 yard Field Goal by #22 Pedro Lopez . That would make the Halftime score Chattooga 24 Mount Zion 6.

Second Half

The second half would start on a pooch kick not fielded by the Eagles. The Indians #17 Colton McCary would jump on it and Chattooga would start the drive in Mount Zion Territory. It did not take long and the Indians would get on the board again on another touchdown run by # 7 Zayden Cook . That would push the score up to Chattooga 30 Mount Zion 6.

After a Eagle fumble, Chattooga would add another score on a short Touchdown run by #7 Zayden Cook . The Indians would start entering subs as many Indians would see the field in the last 2 quarters. Mount Zion would add 14 more points late in the game. The Final would be Chattooga 45 Mount Zion 20.

Record Breaking

In this game Chattooga’s #7 Zayden Cook broke his own Chattooga High School record for rushing yards in a game with 338 Yards on 17 carries.

Next Week

Mount Zion 2-2(0-0) will be on the road next week at Baconton Charter 0-3(0-0) in non region action. The Chattooga Indians will start region play next week on the road at Gordon Central 2-1(0-0).
