#TeamFYNsports week 9 games of the week

Team FYN Sports
games of the week

Starting this year, #TeamFYNsports will be bringing you their top football games of the week for our local area football teams.

Team FYN sports director Jake West and Fannin County Rec. Department Athletic Coordinator Tim Towe will also be giving you their picks to win these games of the week.

Last week, Tim Towe went 3-1, incorrectly picking the Union County Panthers to win against Elbert. Jake West went 2-2, incorrectly picking the Panthers as well and incorrectly picking Gilmer to win.

Tim is now 28-7 overall and Jake is 23-12.

Cherokee Bluff @ Dawson

Tim: Winner of this game takes control of Region 7AAA.
Cherokee Bluff 7-0 off to its best start in school history. Ranked as high as 9th in the polls by AJC. Dawson is 4-3 but they are peaking at the right time. I like Sid Maxwell and the Tigers at home to make a statement and get the win. Prediction: Dawson

Jake: This is a game that I wish I could be at tonight. Cherokee Bluff is a power house of a team and Dawson is so well coached they are going to make you beat them honestly. Im gonna have to go with Cherokee Bluff in this one though. I think they are just too much for Dawson. Prediction: Cherokee Bluff

Fannin @ Chattooga

Tim: Saturday night football! Rebels off to their best start since 1995. Rebels will look to go 7-0 on Saturday. Chattooga is in the middle of a 5 games in 19 day stretch. The Indians have a ton of talent. Their RB Lashaun Lester has a UAB offer, they have a freshmen who is among the states leaders in Receiving Yards in Nic Hester. Hester also plays Corner on defense. Their QB Cash Allen is 6 foot 7 and is the only player Ive seen the last 2 years that can punt the ball better than Fannins own Luke Holloway. The problem is Hester and Lester have both been banged up. I hope they are able to play Saturday. Either way I like Fannin big in this one. Prediction: Fannin

Jake: Give me Fannin all the way. The Chattooga football team was dealt a bad hand with their schedule recently and I really feel bad for them. They are a pretty talented football team, but I think that fatigue catches up to them when they run into the Rebels on Saturday. Prediction: Fannin

Ridgeland @ Pickens

Tim: Saturday night football! I could get use to the Thursday-Friday- Saturday football games as long as they arent being moved due to Covid matters. Dragons will be playing at home for the 1st time in over a month and I think the 1st time in 22 days. Ridgeland has a little but more experience, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive End Jeremiah Tuner has had offers from Point and Bethel just in the past 2 weeks. I like Ridgeland by 10 Prediction: Ridgeland

Jake: I am gonna have to go with Ridgeland here too. They are just too much for the Dragons. I hope this one stays close though. Prediction: Ridgeland

Clay @ Copper Basin

Tim: Yes, Basin is banged up and Grabowski is not playing. Yes, they havent played in a long time. Yes, from an outsider looking in you are probably picking Clay. Im not. Give me the dang Cougars! Those boys have worked hard throughout the season and dont want to end the season with a home loss. Give me the Cougars. Prediction: Copper Basin

Jake: I hate picking against local teams, but I think I am going to have to in this one. I am going with Clay County here. Basin has just lost too much heading into this years playoffs. Bryson Grabowski was the backbone of this team and it just looks to me like they cant move the ball at all without him commanding their offense. Prediction: Clay County

Gilmer @ West Hall

Tim: Gilmer traveling down to the Hot Gates at West Hall. Gilmer needs to win this to stay alive for the playoffs. I think the win a close one here. I think Coach Saunders and his staff will have a great gameplan tonight and will win by a touchdown. Prediction: Gilmer

Jake: I think I have to go with Gilmer on this one. West Hall has 2 wins on the year, one of those coming against a winless Chestatee team. I see this one being very close though and honestly think it could go either way. Prediction: Gilmer
