Indians Celebrate Homecoming with a Big Win

The Chattooga Indians were back home on the gridiron for the first time since August 20th. It was only fitting that after that long time away from home they they enjoy Homecoming upon return to The Little Big Horn Stadium. The Indian faithful packed the stands and enjoyed a big 49-21 Region 7-AA win over the Model Bluedevils. The victory sent Chattooga’s overall record to 2-2 while sending them to 1-0 in Region 7-AA play.

-1st Quarter- Model won the toss and elected to receive to start the game. Model then went three and out and was forced to punt from deep in their own territory. The punt was caught by #4 Nic Hester and returned 40 yards back to the Model 16 yard line. Just a few plays later #25 Lashaun Lester added his first touchdown of the night on a 6 yard run .PAT was Good by #89 Caroline Hodges to make the score 7-0 Chattooga. After another three and out the Indians started their second drive on the Bluedevils 41 yard line. Three plays later #25 Lester picked up his second touchdown on a 38 Yard run. PAT was Good to make the score 14-0 Chattooga. After another Chattooga defensive stop #12 Brody Mobbs connected with #2 Jaylon Johnson for a 22 yard touchdown pass. As the time ran out in the end of the 1st quarter Model got on the board with a 5 yard run from #10 Riley Chapman. At the end of the first it was 21-7 Chattooga.

-2nd Quarter- The second quarter begin with a Indians possession that drove the length of the field and was capped off by a 35 yard touchdown run for #22 Rowan Burdick. The Touch Indians defense forced another three and out and after the punt the Indians started the next drive at their ow 48 yard line.  Chattooga would grab some more points on this drive when #12 Brody Mobbs hits #2 Jaylon Johnson for another touchdown pass this time from 27 yards out. With another perfect PAT by Miss Caroline Hodges the score going into the half was 35-7 Chattooga.

-3rd Quarter- The Indians would start the third quarter with the ball and the Model Bluedevils defense got a three and out. After the punt the Bluedevils would start at the Indians 48 yard line on their first drive of the second half. Model would drive the field and punch it in from 1 yard out by #12 Landon Cantrell. After an attempted onside kick the Indians would start the drive at their own 44 yard line. Three plays later #4 Nic Hester catches a pitch off the right side and went untouched for a 49 yard touchdown. The very next drive for Model #13 Joey Samples score on a 78 yard rumble. That would end the third quarter with a score of Chattooga 42 Model 21.

-4th Quarter- The first play of the fourth was a stop by the Indians on fourth down.  Just a few plays later Model forced a punt and after a short punt by the Indians the Bluedevils would start on their own 44 yard line. The Bluedevils would go on a long time consuming drive that would end on a forth down sack by # 52 Richard Bass. After the change of possession #25 Lashaun Lester Would take the ball off the right side for a 72 yard run down to the 5 yard line. Two plays later Lester would be rewarded by a 1 yard touchdown run. That would end all scoring with the Final Chattooga 49 Model 21.

– The Indians were led on the ground by #25 Lashaun Lester with 17 carries for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns.  #12 Brody Mobbs was 4 for 6 through the air for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Bluedevils fall to (1-4)(0-1) and will host Coosa next week in 7-AA action. The Indians go to (2-2)(1-0) and will be on the road at Gordon Central next Friday October 1st.
