The Chattooga Indians hosted a huge Region 7-AA Matchup against the Dragons from Pepperell on Senior Night. With a win Chattooga would clinch the 2nd playoff seed and would host a playoff game in the first round of the AA GHSA State Playoffs. The Indians came out strong and amassed a 14-0 lead early in the game. Unfortunately that would be all of the scoring the Indians would do that night as they gave up 35 unanswered points to the visiting Dragons on the way to a 35-14 Loss.

The first quarter would start out by both teams getting a feel for the game and both offenses sputtered. Pepperell would punt twice early while Chattooga would punt once. After Pepperell’s second punt the Indians would start on their own 35 yard line with 4:24 left to go in the first quarter. Two plays later the Indians would get on the board first with a 50 yard Touchdown run by #8 Devon Heroch. That would make the score 7-0 Chattooga. On the ensuring kickoff Pepperell muffed a short popup kick and it was recovered by the Indians in Dragon territory. Just a few plays later the Indians would punch it in from 6 yards out by # 6 Lashaun Lester. The first quarter would end at the score of 14-0 Chattooga.

The second quarter stated like the first left off with another stop from the Indian defense. Things turned in a big way as the Indians went backward and were forced to punt from deep in their own territory. The snap on the punt was low and the punter # 19 Hunter Brown had to go down and get it, unfortunately his knee touched down at the Indians own 1 yard line. Pepperell quickly added 7 points to the scoreboard with a short touchdown run by  #11 D.J Rogers. That would cut the lead to 14-7 Chattooga. The next drive for the Indians ended abruptly with a fumble and a recovery by the Dragons on the Indians 32 yard line. Pepperell’s short drive ended on a 3 yard touchdown run by #11 D.J Rogers. The next drive had the same results as the ball was fumbled again by the Indians and recovered by the Dragons from Pepperell. Pepperell would drive down deep in Indian territory but the half would end before any more points would be scored.

The third quarter started promising for the Indians as the took the second half kickoff and drove it into Dragon territory. The Indians would go on forth down and short and the dragons defense stood tall and made a tackle in the backfield. The Dragons would seize all of the momentum and go on a drive that would end in 7 points on a 1 yard run by #2 Matthew Waddell. That would stretch the Dragon Lead to 28-14 midway through the third quarter. Chattooga would quickly once again be forced to punt. The Dragons managed to move it just past midfield where the Indians defense got a much needed stop to give the ball back to the Indian offense.

The Indians would start the fourth quarter with possession inside their own 10 yard line.  Chattooga would manage to drive the ball about 30 yards and would be forced to punt down 14 points with just over 7 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The Dragons went on a drive that chewed just about all of the remaining time left on the clock and was capped off by a 4 yard touchdown run by #11 D.J Rogers. That would make the score 35-14 Pepperell and that would be the Final.

The Indians fall to 5-4(4-2) and will have next week off before the Playoffs start the following week. With the loss Chattooga is most likely to end the #4 Seed in 7-AA and will Travel to Region 5-AA Champion Haralson County in the first Round of the AA State Playoffs on November 12th. With the Win Pepperell moves to 4-5(4-2) and will play host to the Eagles of Coosa Next week.
