Indians fall to the Rebels in First Round of AA State Playoffs

The first round of the GHSA state Playoffs started Friday night. The Indians of Chattooga County finished as the 4th seed from Region 7-AA and that sent them on the road to face Region 5-AA #1 Seed Haralson County. On a cold night were the temps dipped down into the low 40’s the Rebels offense was hot in route to a 34-7 Win over the Indians from Chattooga. The Rebel defense was equally as impressive holding the Indians to 126 yards rushing on 36 Carries and less than 200 total yards.
Haralson County won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. The opening kickoff was caught a then fumbled after a big hit by Chattooga’s #22 Rowan Burdick. The Rebels where able to fall on the fumble and they would start their first drive of the game on their own 35 yard line. Just a few plays later Rebels #12 Clay Hyatt scampered in from 38 yards away. PAT was good and that made the score Haralson 7 Chattooga 0. The Indians first drive would only last a few plays followed by a 52 yard punt by #19 Hunter Brown that would pin the Rebels back on their own 2 yard line. The Score at the end of the first was Haralson 7 Chattooga 0.
The Rebels started the second quarter on the Indian 16 yard line. The very first play of the quarter was a fumble recovered by the Indians. After an Indian punt the Rebels quickly drove the field and the drive was capped off by another #12 Clay Hyatt Touchdown run. That would push the score up to 14-0 Haralson. The next possession for the rebels ended in more points this time by #25 JoJo Chandler. That would make the score Haralson 21 Chattooga 0. That would be your score going into the Half.
The Indians would start the second half with the ball on their own 20 yard line. Chattooga would go on a long drive taking almost 6 minutes off the clock and resulting in a 17 yard Touchdown run by #22 Rowan Burdick. PAT was good by #89 Caroline Hodges and that brought the score to Haralson 21 Chattooga 7. The next points in the game came from a 55 yard Touchdown run by #12 Clay Hyatt. Haralson would add another score mid way through the fourth quarter by #12 Clay Hyatt that would be his 4th touchdown of the night. That would push the score up to Haralson 34 Chattooga 7. That would be your Final.
Chattooga falls to 5-5(4-2) and is Eliminated from the Playoffs. Haralson County moves to 10-1(6-0) and will advance to the second round of the GHSA AA State Playoffs. On Friday November 19th the Rebels will play host to the Northeast Raiders 8-3(4-2) for a chance to move to the AA Elite Eight.
