Temple Runs to Victory at Chattooga

The Chattooga Indians came into this game after an off week understanding what they were up against. Cam Vaughn and the Temple offense did not disappoint amassing over 500 total yards on the night. The Indians offense at times moved the ball them selves on a few impressive drives. The Indians would only muster 19 points on the board and that would not be enough. Temple would stretch what was a close game to a big lead in the 4th quarter. As they scored 20 points in the 4th on their way to a 44 to 19 Win.

First Quarter

Chattooga started with the opening possession moving the ball down the field. The drive was stalled by two fumbled snaps and a controversial blind side block penalty. The opening drive for Temple was a three and out forced by the Indians defense. The Tigers would attempt a fake punt and would be stopped for no gain by Chattooga Linebacker #7 Zayden Cook. Chattooga would go on a 10 play drive that would be capped off by a 3 yard Touchdown run by #3 Zaden Perry. With just under 3 minutes left in the first quarter the score was Chattooga 7 Temple 0. Temple would then answer with a drive of their own that would end on a 25 yard Touchdown run by #4 Cam Vaughn . The PAT was Blocked and the score at the end of the 1st quarter would be Chattooga 7 Temple 6.

Second Quarter

Temple would waste no time adding to the scoreboard. The next drive was a short one and was capped off with a run right up the middle for a 10 yard touchdown by #3 C.J Grey. The Tigers would go for 2 and it would be no good. The Score midway through the second quarter was Temple 12 Chattooga 7. Chattooga would drive the ball down to the 3 yard line unfortunately the drive would stall out on downs after being backed up by penalty. Temple would drive down deep into Indian territory but after a low snap Cam Vaughn  would be sacked on 4th down. That would make the Halftime score Temple 12 Chattooga 7.

Third Quarter

After punts by both teams Temple would score on a 1 play drive on a 51 run by #4 Cam Vaughn . The two point conversion was intercepted by #21 Corde’ Hill . The score after that drive was Temple 18 Chattooga 7. The Indians would go three and out and put their defense back on the field. Temple would go on a 2 play drive finished off by another long run by Cam Vaughn. Vaughn would break loose for a 75 yard touchdown. Chattooga’s Trey Smith returns the ensuing kickoff for 62 yards down to the Tiger 28 yard line. Just a few plays later Chattooga’s Quarry Gibson hits Trey Smith with a 25 yard Touchdown pass. That would end the third quarter with the score Temple 24 Chattooga 13.

Fourth Quarter

Temple and Chattooga would trade scores early in the quarter. Temple would then score on a 90 yard kickoff return for touchdown, followed by a touchdown run by #3 Cj Gray . That would be all of the scoring. Final Temple 44 Chattooga 19.

Next Week

Temple moves to 2-1(0-0) and will be back in action next week on the road at 3-0(0-0) Lumpkin County. Chattooga 0-2(0-0) will be back in action at home next Friday as the Indians will host the Coahulla Creek Colts 1-1(0-0).
