On 03/20/2021, Summerville Police Sergeant David Westbrooks and Officer Thomas Sainthill encountered a suspicious male who was loitering at the back of the Circle K Store located on Commerce Street. The male was also carrying a backpack. Upon speaking with the male about the reason he was loitering at the back of the store, the male fled on foot and a chase ensued. The male ran into a tall fence behind the store and after several attempts to climb the fence he was unsuccessful. The male was given verbal commands to stop and he refused to comply. Officers then deployed a taser to stop the resisting male and placed him into custody. The male had thrown his backpack over the fence and was located by Officers. The male also discarded two cigarette packs during the chase. Inside the backpack, Officers located approximately 2 pounds of suspected marijuana with weighting and packaging materials. Inside the one of the cigarette pack, Officers found 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine. The male also had over $800 in U.S. Currency.

While at the Chattooga County jail he was found to be in possession of more suspected marijuana.
