Wolves Spoil Indians Home Opener in Tribe Pride Arena
Sports, Team FYN Sports, TeamFYNSports December 2, 2021The Rome Wolves (2-0) went on the road to Summerville Georgia and picked up a good non region win against the Class AA #7 Chattooga Indians (0-2). Rome adds its name to a short list of teams that have came away from Chattooga’s Tribe Pride Arena with a Win. In the past five seasons the Indians have only lost a total of ten games at home including the playoffs. In this game however the Wolves from Rome would start out hot and ride the early lead to a 71-56 Win.
-1st Quarter- The Wolves started out the game with two quick three pointers by #3 Jayquan Nelson who scored 9 of the wolves 18 points in the first quarter. The Wolves would play tight defense and would control the boards early in route to 18-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. # 4 Trey Smith and # 5 Brady Groce each had 3 points for the Indians.
-2nd Quarter- Chattooga would get some points on the board in the 2nd quarter by way of the fast break and second chance points from some quality rebounding by the Indians. The Indians would get points by 5 different players and would hold steady in the second quarter. The Wolves would continue to put up points and take the 37-22 lead into the half.
-3rd Quarter- Rome would come out of the half and get right back to the scoring. The first possession for the wolves would result in a three pointer by #5 Braxton Wade to push the lead to 18. The Indians would battle but at the end of the 3rd the Wolves would still have a comfortable 55-41 lead.
-4th Quarter- Chattooga would battle back to within 9 with just over a minute to go in the game. The Wolves would pull back away by making clutch free throws late in the game. In the end the AAAAAA Rome Wolves earned a 71-56 Win over the AA #7 Ranked Indians from Chattooga.
-Rome was Led by #3 Jayquan Nelson with 23 Points. Chattooga was Paced by Freshman #11 Xavier Grey with 13.
-Rome moves to 2-0 and will be back on the hardwood Friday night December 3rd in Kennesaw vs the Hoyas from Harrison. The #7 Ranked Indians fall to 0-2 and will have a few days off before they open 7-AA Region play on December 6th at 7:30 in Tribe Pride Arena vs the Pepperell Dragons.
