Indians Split Games at Home with the Dragons

The Chattooga Indians played host to the Dragons from Pepperell on Monday night for both teams region 7-AA Opening game. The first Varsity game of the night was controlled by the Lady Dragons for most of the game. Pepperell got out to an early lead and held the Indians off for the rest of the game on the way to a 47 -27 Win.

1st Quarter-The first quarter started slow as both teams took a few minutes to get into the flow of the game. The Dragons would take a 10-8 Lead into the 2nd quarter.

2nd Quarter- Pepperell offense would catch fire and the Lady Dragons went on a 20-1 run in the quarter to take a 30-9 Lead into the half.

3rd Quarter- The third quarter was a stale mate as both teams could only muster 6 points and the Indian deficit remained the same going into the 4th.

4th Quarter- The Indians would have their best quarter points wise as they put up 12 points unfortunately it was to late as the Lady Dragons from Pepperell win by the score of 47-27.

Pepperell 3-2(1-0) was led by #14 Morgan Willingham with 15 points. The Lady Dragons will be on the road this Friday December 10th at Dade County. Chattooga Lady Indians 5-3(0-1) will be back in action Friday as well  at Gordon Central 6pm Tipoff.

 

—Varsity Boys—

The Final game of the night between these two teams also started out slow. The Indians 1-2(1-0)  and the Dragons 0-4(0-1)  would be knotted up at 6 early. Chattooga would pull away in route to a 66-46 victory over the visiting Pepperell Dragons.

1st Quarter- Early on in the game defense rained supreme. Points were extremely hard to come by and there was only 12 total points scored in this qtr that end up in a 6-6 tie.

2nd Quarter- The Indians broke the tie early 2nd quarter and would never trail again. Halftime score of Indians 26- Dragons 16.

3rd Quarter- The Indians ratcheted the defense up a notch in the second half a created a few more turnovers which turned into quick fast break points. That Defense coupled with some smooth shooting would build the Chattooga Lead to 43-26 at the end of the 3rd.

4th Quarter- The Final Qtr. of the night saw the Indians empty the bench and get some quality minutes from some of the younger guys on the squad.

Chattooga had 8 Players put points on the board in this game. The Leading scorer was Senior #23 Jaylon Johnson with 18. Freshman #11 Xavier Grey fished with 12 . Pepperell was lead by #3 Alex Rhoades with 13.

Pepperell 0-4(0-1) will be on the road this Friday at Dade County to face off against the Wolverines. Chattooga will Jump right back into action on Tuesday as they will host a big non region battle with the Calhoun Yellowjackets. This will be a throwback game of sorts as it will be hosted by Chattooga’s alternate Gym “The War Lodge” at 6pm.
